Tailoring software built for shops and workshops in Saudi Arabia
Last updated:
What is the best software for running a tailoring shop in Saudi Arabia? One that covers measurements, orders, cutting and sewing stages and VAT invoices in Arabic, and fits the languages your staff speak. MQDAR (مقدار) is cloud software for tailoring shops in Saudi Arabia that brings this together in one browser, in Arabic, English and Urdu.
Selection criteria at a glance:
- Measurement templates for thobes, abayas, Pakistani wear and suits, saved per person, with ¼, ½ and ¾ fractions.
- Clear stages from intake to handover, and workshop sheets without prices.
- Simplified tax invoices, standard tax invoices for business customers, credit and debit notes, and readiness for the ZATCA FATOORA platform.
- Fabric inventory, direct sales of ready-made products, branches and permissions.
MQDAR (مقدار) is a cloud-based SaaS platform for tailoring shops and workshops in Saudi Arabia. It brings customers, measurements, orders, cutting and sewing stages, invoices, payments and branches into one system that runs in the browser — in Arabic, English and Urdu.
A Saudi tailoring business has needs that generic accounting or POS software does not cover: thobes made to measure with collar and cuff details, abayas with precise measurements, teams that work in Arabic, Urdu and English at the same time, and VAT invoices in riyals for registered businesses. This page explains how MQDAR handles those details.
What a Saudi tailoring shop needs from its software
| Shop requirement | How MQDAR handles it |
|---|---|
| Local garment types | Ready templates from the MQDAR library such as thobe, abaya, shalwar kameez and suit; the number of templates depends on the plan |
| A multilingual team | Every user picks their interface language: Arabic, English or Urdu |
| Customers who speak different languages | The customer invoice prints in the customer's language |
| Saudi and international mobile numbers | Saudi Arabia by default, or any international number with its country code, stored in one standard format |
| VAT | A simplified tax invoice with ZATCA's QR code for VAT-registered businesses; prices include VAT |
| More than one branch | Branches under one business within the plan limit, each with a daily production limit counted in pieces |
| Working from anywhere | Runs in the browser on phones, tablets and computers, with no app to install |
Who MQDAR is built for
- Men's thobe shops: thobe measurements, design details and family orders — see thobe shop software.
- Women's tailoring workshops and abaya makers: splitting work between cutters and tailors and managing capacity — see tailoring workshop software.
- Pakistani and Indian clothing tailors: a shalwar kameez template and an Urdu interface for the staff who prefer it.
- Suit and formalwear tailors.
- Multi-branch businesses: every branch with its own orders and daily capacity under one account — see branch management.
One team, three languages
In many shops the front desk works in Arabic, cutters and tailors in Urdu, and the owner in English. In MQDAR each employee signs in with their own account and language, while the order itself — number, measurements and stage — is the same for everyone. Nobody re-copies or translates job details between the front desk and the workshop. Each employee sees the orders linked to their job title and stage; managers see everything (staff and permissions).
Tax invoices in MQDAR
- VAT-registered businesses issue a locally signed simplified tax invoice that carries ZATCA's QR code, with a downloadable XML file.
- Businesses that are not VAT-registered issue a normal invoice without VAT or a QR code.
- Ready for integration with the ZATCA FATOORA platform: signed simplified tax invoices with a QR code and an XML file for VAT-registered businesses (phase two).
This describes what the system does; it is not tax advice. More in invoices and payments.
Example: a family order at a Riyadh thobe shop
- A customer orders three thobes for himself and two for his son. The front desk types his mobile number and his details and saved measurements and designs appear.
- The thobe template is chosen for each person; saved measurements are shaded, so only the changes are edited, and the son is added as a dependant inside the same order (measurement software).
- Fabric is set for each piece, and the due date is picked while seeing the branch's remaining capacity for each day.
- The workshop sheet prints measurements, details and fabric with no prices; the customer invoice shows the total, paid and balance.
- A cutter claims the order, then it moves to the tailors' list until it is ready.
- Handover completes only after the order is fully paid (order management).

WhatsApp notifications (coming soon): the service is ready to be switched on, with MQDAR as the central sender and two approved templates — order registration confirmation and ready-for-pickup notice — with the customer name, shop name and order number, in the customer's language (Arabic, English or Urdu); shops do not need to connect their own number. It will be available in the Pro plan at launch.
FAQ
Is MQDAR built for the Saudi market?
Yes. MQDAR is built mainly for Saudi Arabia: prices are in Saudi riyals, VAT-registered businesses issue a simplified tax invoice, and the interface is in Arabic, English and Urdu.
Does it suit abaya makers and women's tailoring workshops?
Yes. The abaya template can be chosen from the MQDAR library within your plan's templates, and the workshop can run on cutting and sewing stages with a daily production limit per branch.
Can tailors use the system in Urdu?
Yes. Each user chooses their own interface language — Arabic, English or Urdu — without changing it for the rest of the team.
Are MQDAR invoices sent to ZATCA automatically?
MQDAR is ready for integration with the ZATCA FATOORA platform: it issues VAT-registered businesses signed simplified tax invoices with a QR code and an XML file in line with ZATCA requirements, and the platform integration is ready to be activated.
Do I need special hardware or software?
No. MQDAR runs in the browser on a phone, tablet or computer, and each business gets its own link such as yourshop.mqdar.shop.
