Tailoring workshop management: assign work, control capacity, print clean job sheets
Last updated:
Tailoring workshop management software organises the production floor: who cuts what, who sews what, how many pieces the workshop can deliver each day, and what the tailor needs written in front of them. In MQDAR, every order moves through clear stages, cutters and tailors claim the work themselves, and measurements and design details reach the workshop without prices.
Workshop problems it solves
- Orders pile up at the cutting table and the manager cannot tell where they stopped.
- Two tailors work on the same order without coordination — or nobody picks it up at all.
- Due dates are promised without knowing how busy that day already is.
- Handwritten job sheets miss details and show prices the tailor does not need.
- Abaya and dress measurements get lost when copied from the front-desk form.
How a workshop runs in MQDAR
- Intake: the order is recorded with the customer, templates, measurements, fabric and due date. One order can cover several people and pieces.
- Cutting queue: a new order appears for every cutter; whoever starts it claims it, and no one can claim an order a colleague has already taken.
- Sewing queue: after cutting, the order moves automatically to the tailors' list in the same way.
- Ready and handover: the order becomes ready for pickup, and handover completes only after full payment.
Stages can be changed on every plan — add, remove or reorder them and link each stage to a job title. Each employee sees only the orders linked to their job title and stage; managers see everything. More in workflow and stages.
Daily capacity counted in pieces
A workshop's capacity is not a number of orders: an order with five abayas is not the same as an order with one. In MQDAR each branch sets a daily limit in pieces, and when choosing a due date staff see how many pieces are already booked for each day and how many remain. The limit can be locked, so the system refuses any order that exceeds it, or left flexible for busy seasons (branches and capacity).
What reaches the tailor: job sheet and piece view
- Workshop sheet: the order number in red, the template, measurements in inches or centimetres, design options and fabric for each piece — with no prices. Print on A4, A5 or 80 mm and 58 mm thermal paper.
- Measurements and design view: from the order details, staff can open any piece's measurements and design on screen without printing.
- Print options: the business decides what appears on the workshop sheet and on the customer invoice, while mandatory fields stay visible.

Abayas, dresses and detailed pieces
- The abaya template and others come from the MQDAR library within your plan's template count, and each template has measurement fields and design options the business can edit.
- When an order has several pieces of the same template, each piece gets its own tab; copy the first piece's measurements and edit the rest.
- Every piece has its own fabric and an optional note, and pieces with different fabric are never merged on the printout.
- One order can hold up to 20 people and 60 pieces, with one invoice and one order number.
Who it is for
- Women's tailoring workshops, abaya makers and dressmakers.
- Men's tailoring workshops where cutters and tailors work away from the front desk.
- Workshops serving several branches or handling heavy seasonal demand.
FAQ
How is workshop software different from accounting software?
Accounting software records sales and amounts. Workshop software follows production itself: who received the order, which stage it is in, who is working on it, how many pieces are booked on the due date, and what measurements and details each piece needs.
Can tailors see prices?
No. The workshop sheet has no prices, and staff cannot see cost or profit unless they are given the view-cost permission.
How do I stop taking more orders than the workshop can handle?
Set a daily piece limit for the branch and lock it; the system then refuses any new order that would exceed the limit on the chosen due date.
Can I change the stages to fit my workshop?
Yes, on every plan: add, remove and reorder stages and link each one to a job title.
Can the workshop team use different languages?
Yes. Each employee uses the interface in Arabic, English or Urdu, and the order is the same for everyone.
